2005 IS MY ‘MAGIC’ YEAR -

Make BIG Plans, Aim High In Hope And Work

“Make not little plans;

they have no magic to stir men’s blood

and probably themselves will not be realized.

Make big plans;

aim high in hope and work.”

-Daniel H. Burnham

I’ve used this quote at the beginning and at the end of this December eNews because I want it to really make an impact!

2005 is MY magic year. The year I will create, inspire, impact, coach, train, and revel in new programs, resources, tools and information for an unprecedented numbers of clients and people in my sphere of influence.

What are your goals for 2005?  What are the goals of your team members?

Setting personal and professional goals are probably the most common forms of annual goal setting. I’ve taken the liberty of addressing a few others you may not have considered.

Your goals may be few or may be many. Makes no difference, but remember, make not little plans. If you can’t remember what your goals were last year, then chances are your goals “have no magic to stir” your blood.

GLOBAL goals:

Have you set global goals? There are needs around the global community that you can personally impact. Right now there is an urgent crisis in Southeast Asia of unprecedented proportions. Have you considered your role? A financial donation, of course, is a minimum requirement of any of us. Is there anything else you may be able to do?

I know the story of a successful businessman in Ontario who decided to make time for a trip to Belarus to volunteer his time and work. He began to see what unbelievable needs there were, especially in the local hospitals. When he came back to Ontario he began to organize funding drives for medical supplies and is now the No. 1 supplier to the people of Belarus.

LOCAL goals:

What about your local community? Are you involved and making an impact in your own community? Are there things you and/or your firm can do to make a difference?

There are opportunities every single day to impact the lives of many. It may be related to your profession or an interest you have personally.

FAMILY goals:

Making family goals are important. Your family will grow and change dramatically this year, just as they have in previous years. Don’t waste time and miss opportunities. Set those goals now. Maybe you need more time together, or a long dreamed about family trip, maybe a family project or even a move. Bring everyone together on these goals.  Helping our children set goals is a very important life lesson.

HEALTH goals:

Of course, it’s always a good idea to re-evaluate our health goals. Perhaps, like me, you’ve let some health issues get out of hand and now is the time to refocus and get serious about your health again. Your health is VITAL to the success of most other goals in life.

SPIRITUAL goals:

We often overlook setting spiritual goals. This is an area of great importance to our lives (even if we’re not currently aware of it). Reconnecting to our spiritual self is an important goal to work on.

FINANCIAL goals:

Setting financial goals is of course an important part of beginning each year, whether it’s your personal or business finances. Budgeting and financial planning let us know where we want to go financially and if we begin to get off track while trying to get there.

INSPIRATION goals: [The magic to stir your blood]

INSPIRE! Inspire yourself and others in 2005. There’s no better gift you can give yourself or others. Setting goals is all well and good and an important part of life and success.

BUT If you just simply set goals [and make little plans] and make yourself work at them as a duty, then [they have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized].

I wish you a very successful, prosperous, healthy, inspired NEW YEAR!  Debra

“THAT IS SUCH A GOOD THOUGHT”,

Thoughts worth reading, thinking, repeating and embracing.

“Make not little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work.”

-Daniel H. Burnham

 I hope you’ve found value in this month’s copy of THE WhIP JOURNAL.
