The WhIP Journal eNews [What Helps In Practice!]
Welcome to the December 2006 issue of The WhIP Journal!

Happy Holidays to everyone!

What does 2007 hold for you and your business? You don’t need a crystal ball to begin to know some thing about the next year. You can tell me (and yourself) what kind of year you believe you will have. Some people will expect very little in 2007. And guess what? They will likely be right! Expect little and you should get exactly what you expected.

Now other people will expect to get a lot out of the year ahead, and that’s a great start. Having high expectations will set the tone for a GREAT year to begin. Then add to that some hard work, perseverance, passionate leadership, a willingness to change and adapt where advantageous, and a support team (whether it’s your staff, your colleagues, your family, or your business coach [could be me]) who will work with you through the bumps and challenges, and you are on your way to a GREAT year!

Which person are you? Are you expecting a GREAT year or are you content to settle for just a good year?

I wish for you to be ready to receive a GREAT year in 2007!
Regards,
Debra

BE READY TO RECEIVE A GREAT YEAR – Attitude makes a big difference.

"There is a difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it." -Napoleon Hill

Are you ready to receive your GREAT year in 2007?
Sometimes there are things at work in our lives that sabotage our best efforts. When you’re expecting a GREAT year and actively working towards that, look out for certain people or habits or paradigms that act as heavy baggage/chains holding you back from your GREAT year.

Watch out for things like:

-People around you, WITH the power to INFLUENCE, who have neither your passion nor your drive for making a GREAT year happen and who will (passively or aggressively) try to make you doubt or give up or grow weary.

-Letting yourself get caught up (early) in the PARALYSIS OF TAX SEASON. This is a powerful destroyer of any attitude that is ready to receive a GREAT year!

-Thinking that ‘THIS’ (where you’re at now) is good enough or that ‘THIS’ will continue the way it is if you just keep doing the same thing year after year.

-Hiding from real issues and being inauthentic. So many people are walking around wearing masks, and it breeds mistrust and selfishness.

-‘Voices’ from the past that ring in your head telling you that you’re not worthy or able to achieve GREAT things. (sometimes can be a parent)

Don’t let these things stand in your way this year. Hold firm in your belief and your actions.

Find what makes you an authentic, passionate leader and live those things everyday.

There are so many ways to help prepare yourself and your business for a great 2007. It’s important to find something that really works for you personally. Not every method or system will appeal to everyone or be effective, so find what works for you.

The following are some simple ideas to help you get started on a brand new year:

Have a New Year celebration meeting with your team early in January! (Your ‘team’ should be your actual staff members or for a sole proprietor with no staff, invite your colleagues/mentors/family/business coach)
You can meet in your office, boardroom or hotel facility/conference room. Decide whether you need a full day or a morning/afternoon to thoroughly cover the topics. Have everyone actively contribute about the following topics:
- Decide what you’ve been doing wrong or poorly that needs to stop.
- Decide what you’ve been doing right and well and should continue.
- Decide what you should begin to do and implement.
Then act on your decisions. Move forward into 2007 with purpose and goals.

OR

A Strategic Business Plan: (this is the ‘basic’ outline. It can also be completed in the format above with your team in a full or half day session)
-Create 90 day GOALS: based on items you can and will ‘act’ upon, renewing the 90 day goals every quarter.
-Create a 12 month PLAN: begin to work on your 1 year plan slowly and carefully throughout the year.
-Create a 3 year VISION: choosing and directing your path and working towards where you want to be in three years from now.
What goes into the Strategic Business Plan is critical to your success.

Always make sure your business goals are compatible with your personal goals, your family priorities and your management abilities.

I hope you will be ready to receive a GREAT year!
