YOUR BIGGER
FUTURE – Are You Meant For Something More Than This?
I work with professionals and entrepreneurs. Most of them
are usually both – they’re professionals who are
entrepreneurs. These are people who ‘look’ like they’re
pursuing a BIGGER FUTURE, because they’re out there creating
and running their own firms and businesses, but you’d be
surprised how often they’re not.
A lot of times, many professional entrepreneurs are simply
putting in time. Paying bills. Taking care of family
responsibilities. Putting up with the ‘drudgery’ of work,
like so many other people who put in time at a job.
Hopefully these professional entrepreneurs are making more
money than if they were employed by someone else, but many
times – they’re not. (Am I right?)
Creating and running your own business can certainly be a
step in the right direction toward your BIGGER FUTURE, but
for some it stops short of doing that.
The trouble is so many people get caught in a trap!
The trap of day-to-day responsibilities, or sometimes the
trap of convenience and familiarity or even the trap of
fear.
A BIGGER FUTURE will mean different things to different
people, as it should. For some it will manifest in work
related areas, some in their personal life and/or
philanthropy, and for most it will be a combination of these
things. For me, the key to a BIGGER FUTURE is the joy, the
fulfillment, and the contribution to life around someone who
is living it.
It’s not easy to go after your own BIGGER FUTURE.
It takes vision, determination, and action.
Added to that is a bunch of other things too, such as
opportunity, determination, support, talent, drive, and did
I mention determination?
Mostly, though, it takes someone who says to themselves everyday
for a long time, that I want a BIGGER FUTURE and nothing
less will make me happy and fulfilled.
I think about it for my kids and feel that I want SO MUCH
for them. I see so much potential in them. These are NOT
kids I want to see in ‘small’ jobs. They should have a
BIGGER FUTURE. (I know I’m biased – yes I am)
I want them to find a direction in life that will provide
them with a great journey and work that is as BIG as they
are and will fulfill them and support them all of their
life.
I don’t want them to fall into the traps that most of us do.
Most of us don’t pursue what we really want.
Most of us end up paying the bills and taking care of
family.
Which is good and honourable but not what we are capable
of.

In January, we hear a lot about looking back and reflecting
and we hear a lot about looking ahead with our goals and
resolutions. So when you think about 2006 was it the year
you wanted? Did it look and feel like the place you wanted
to be, the place you’ve always pictured for yourself?
Is it the BIGGER FUTURE you planned, hoped and dreamed of,
or are you simply putting in your time like everyone else?
